Personal Job Roles

My job roles include: Screenwriter, Lighting Technician, Camera Operator

As a screenwriter, I've examined a previous script in order to create my own. I also created a prior script which was ultimately scrapped. This all helped to develop the current script.

As the lighting technician for a club scene, I have looked at existing clubs and other lighting technician's insights on the matter. I have to be able to use the provided lights to their utmost capability to ensure that the scene feels like a nightclub.

As the camera operator for the prison and court scenes, I have to make sure to interact with the director to make sure their vision is realised. The characters have to be in frame and the angles need to be decided according to their direction. I will also need to interact with the lighting technician for that scene, in case there's insufficient lighting to provide a clear shot.

I will also have to keep in mind sound as this will be diegetic sound. During prior research, I

discovered the 180 rule and the importance of screen direction, meaning if a character is on the left, they should stay on the left in the next couple scenes; if a subject is passed from the left to the right of the screen, it should continue that same motion in the next scenes.

Screenwriters or script writers, as the name implies, write the script. They are given a rough draft of the story and it's their job to make notes for the camera operators as well as lines for the actors.

Lighting technicians are responsible for the lighting used in production. It's essential they work with the director to make sure their vision is realised. They have to overcome obstacles such as skin looking too pale and strange shadows in weird places. It's their job to fix this and make sure the shots are lit according to the scene's requirements.

Camera operators work on cameras. They need to make sure the characters are in frame, they make sure the actors don't look out of place in their positions and they work with lighting technicians to make sure the shots are well lit. When working with multiple cameras they need to make sure not to interfere with each other's shot.
